Il Foglio celebrates its 25 years with the change of size

Saturday, January 30, 2021 Il Foglio turned 25 and went to the newsstands with a slight graphic revision, to make the reading experience more enjoyable, and a slightly reduced format. Thanks to this change also, after a few years, Il Foglio returns to be printed in Sicily, precisely in Messina, thus reaching the Sicilian and Calabrian newsstands.

But the news did not end here for the readers of Il Foglio, a newspaper directed by Claudio Cerasa. In fact, the vertical offering was reinforced with the launch of "25 anni Il Foglio", the first of a possible series of monographs of 200 pages dedicated to the quarter of a century of Italian history lived through the articles of the newspaper, with the aim of making it a regular appointment every six months. In April it is also planned to launch a monthly magazine dedicated to fashion with a focus on the protagonists of the sector.

The digital part has also grown: a restyling of the site has been made ilfoglio.it, a new newsletter dedicated to agriculture has been launched, the podcast channel has been confirmed.
In one year, single users grew by 63%, page views reached 22 million, new readers increased by 61%. All numbers that confirm the growth of Il Foglio and its audience. Audience for which are scheduled further news: on the site will debut a new vertical channel on mobility and engines, on the new app instead will be made available the audio readings of daily articles.

All the initiatives were made possible thanks to the slight profit obtained by the magazine in 2020 and the growth of 20% of advertising revenue.

The change of format is not an aspect that concerns only the graphics of the newspaper, but impacts its production at every level, starting from the editorial system up to the management of the planning of machine fall, plate production and preinking management in the presses of the different printing centres involved.

An important structure rooted in the entire Italian territory and a strong experience throughout the production chain of a newspaper have allowed GMDE to support brilliantly both the editorial staff and the prepress departments of the centers in which the newspaper is printed. The work was done in record time, also thanks to the great flexibility of the GN4 system and a really incredible team work: from the beginning of the review of the graphics up to the first issue in print, only ten days have passed.
